About Islamic Economics Winter Course 2025
The Islamic Economics Winter Course (IESWC) is an annual event hosted by the Department of Islamic Economics at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). For its seventh year, IESWC 2025 will be held from September 8 to 17, with a special focus on the theme “Islamic Social Finance for Sustainable Economy and Development”. This year, the course dives deep into creating innovative models for social impact by combining Islamic philanthropic funds—such as zakat, waqf, and sadaqa—with commercial Islamic finance and private sector partnerships.
Our goal is to give participants practical tools to design and manage impactful social finance projects. The event brings together academics, practitioners, regulators, and private sector players to accelerate sustainable development through Islamic social finance. Our methodology includes lectures from leading experts, hands-on case studies, a field visit to a productive waqf project, and a final capstone project where participants can present their work. IESWC 2025 is the perfect opportunity to learn, network, and contribute to the growth of Islamic economics and finance.
